All about Multiple Sclerosis-Cause,Symptoms and Treatment

 

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects your brain, spinal cord & optical nerves. This is a long-term chronic condition in which a person faces a lot of issues like vision problems, blurred speech, etc.


Cause:

The cause of multiple sclerosis is unknown. But scientists believe that it's an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the myelin, a fatty substance surrounding the nerve fibers to protect it.

Once the myelin gets damaged, the nerve fiber unable to process the signals properly to the brain which results in disruption of various activities in the human body.

There's is no evidence why multiple sclerosis occurs in a few & not in others. It might be the genetic or environmental factors that affect.


Symptoms:

The symptoms of  Multiple Sclerosis vary from person to person based on the location of the affected nerve fiber.

Treatment:

Multiple Sclerosis has no cure. But treatment is available to suppress the chronic conditions.

There are several medications available to slow the progression of the disease & also helps in reduces the severity.(Disease-modifying drugs)

Beta interferons- The most common drug to ease the frequency of flares.
